LUISITO M. LANTIN

Luisito M. Lantin specializes in immigration, labor, and alternative dispute resolution. He is the Head of the Immigration Department and has substantial experience in court litigation.

During the administration of former President Corazon C. Aquino, Mr. Lantin was invited by the Ministry of Labor and Employment to assist in the disposition of all pending cases and formulation of labor relations policies in the Office of the Minister of Labor and Employment, and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration. For a year, he served as a consultant for the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

Mr. Lantin’s labor law practice is extensive. Right after law school in 1974, and while waiting for the result of the bar examination, he joined a militant labor federation. A year and a half later, he joined the firm where he represented and counseled clients like San Miguel Corporation, Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc., Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co., Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation, Marubeni Corporation, National Steel Corporation, Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp., Philippine Sinter Corp., Porcelana Mariwasa, Dole Philippines Inc. in most of their labor cases, including notices of strikes, collective bargaining agreement negotiations, preventive mediation, voluntary arbitration, compulsory arbitration, certification election, deadlocks in collective bargaining, etc.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the Philippines where he was admitted as an entrance scholar, while his Bachelor of Laws degree, from the Ateneo de Manila University Law School in 1974. He passed the Philippine Bar examination in 1975.

Mr. Lantin was a professorial lecturer in labor laws at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines for five years and the Arellano Law Foundation. He is presently a Department of Labor and Employment accredited Voluntary Arbitrator and his decisions in such capacity have so far been sustained by the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court.
